The God Compromise
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Rom 1:20)

This and other Bible texts affirm that the work of creation reveals to us the nature and power of the Creator. "Things that are made" specifies the work of creation. God's present work of preservation does not reveal His "invisible infinite power" (except for miracles) but rather reveals His careful sustaining love.
We observe the evidence that should tell us that He made all this majestic, magnificent visible reality. And if we are guided by His written revelation we can draw conclusions about How He worked using the common-sense principle of cause and effect.

If God used evolution as a tool of creation, as one compromise attempts, then His methods do not reveal the holy, sovereign nature and infinite power of the God the Bible describes. A sovereign purposeful Designer/Creator would not use random chance as a tool —it would overrule His purpose and thwart His design. Creating over long ages does not reveal infinite power and wisdom, but an impotent, experimenting learner. He worked at the level that would reveal His infinite perfect powers. A partially all-powerful Creator, or a partially all-wise Designer is self-contradicting. If Sovereign God couldn't control the creation process He didn't achieve His plan.

Christians should answer these questions and more before they risk their faith and their salvation.

  • Why would the all-wise, all-knowing God of the Bible behave like an experimenting learner?
  • Why would He go in dead-end directions, stop, as if confused or mistaken and begin in another?
  • Why would the all-powerful, perfect God take so long?
  • Why not just go directly to what He designed and create all creatures in their kind with each one perfectly efficient in harmonious function, if He had the power to do so?
  • Why would the sovereign God who rules all processes and events behave like a servant of random chance, genetic mistakes and natural selection?
  • Why would God make a natural law like "Cause and Effect" and continuously violate it with lesser things creating greater?
  • Why would God set a natural law like "Entropy" (everything disintegrating) and keep violating it with perpetual upward evolution?
  • Why does God continue to create, destroy and re-create?
  • Why isn't God satisfied with all the beauty, complexity, intricacy and majesty that for at least 3500 years (since Psalms) has "declared the glory of God"?
  • Why didn't "God's evolution" produce a smooth linear array of life kinds between protozoa and man?
  • Why are there distinct species and huge gaps between?
  • Are the gaps weak spots or mistakes in the Creator's design?
  • Why did a God who "changes not and whose compassions fail not." allow so much suffering, death and extinction of innocent animals before sin entered into the world?
  • Why would God "warn that our only hope is in the Savior" and create man so he can evolve and eventually save himself?
  • And most important, why would God, who says He wants us to know Him, deceive us by writing a deliberately misleading record of what He did?

In the heat of the moment of some science discussion we can inadventently give away one or more of God's attributes that we need to trust Him for in one of life's deep valleys.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. (2Pet 2:1).

Danger: Another Jesus

The only way to be saved is to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." But we must believe on the right Jesus. The Bible warns that there will be many Jesus's and false Christs who will be very good impostors. Only the true Jesus is the way to heaven.

The gospel of John insures that we get the right one and opens by teaching that the true Jesus was also the Creator. "Without Him was not anything made that was made." The One who made us also bought us —Christians are one-owner beings.

Evolution is incompatible with the Jesus of the Bible —it says many things made themselves. If we choose to believe in a creator who used the cruel ways of evolution, and who then evaluated His work as "all good," (Gen.1:31) then this is a creator with a different nature and values system. We have chosen (perhaps carelessly) another Jesus. Do we risk our eternal destiny by embracing some dubious so-called science?

When we stand before our Maker, (note who judges us) many people will cry, "Lord, Lord have we not done many wonderful works in thy name? He will respond, "Depart from me, I never knew you." How were these very religious zealots, doing God's will in His name, robbed of a genuine salvation? They had believed in an impostor. We believe in the true Savior and Creator by trusting His word from cover to cover above all else.
